Game Preview: Titans Host Chargers At Nissan Stadium

NASHVILLE The Tennessee Titans (1-7) host the Los Angeles Chargers (5-3) this week. Kickoff at Nissan Stadium (capacity 69,143) is scheduled for 12 p.m. CST on Sunday, Nov. 2.

This is the fourth consecutive season in which the Titans and Chargers will meet. The Titans won in 2023 at Nissan Stadium, while the Chargers took the matchups at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in both 2022 and 2024.

TITANS COMING HOME FOR EXTENDED STRETCH

The Titans enter their third week under the direction of interim head coachMike McCoy. McCoy, who is in his 23rd overall season coaching in the NFL, served as head coach of the Chargers from 2013 to 2016, during which time the team played in San Diego. The Chargers had a top-10 passing offense every season under McCoy.

The Titans traveled to Indianapolis last week to face the AFC South's first-place Colts. No. 1 overall draft pick quarterbackCam Wardstarted for the eighth consecutive week for Tennessee and passed for 259 yards. He completed a touchdown pass to rookie tight endGunnar Helm, and running backTyjae Spearslater added a rushing touchdown. However, the Colts prevailed by a final score of 38-14.

Another Titans rookie, fourth-round wide receiverChimere Dike, led the offense with 93 yards on seven receptions, establishing highs in both categories through eight career games. Dike also leads the NFL with 1,294 all-purpose yards, the most by any NFL player through eight games since New Orleans Saints running backDarren Sproles(1,331) in 2011.

Following this week's clash with the Chargers, the Titans will enjoy a Week 10 bye, followed by three consecutive home games against the Houston Texans (Nov. 16), Seattle Seahawks (Nov. 23) and Jacksonville Jaguars (Nov. 30).

THE CHARGERS

The Chargers will have extra time to prepare for the Titans after playing a Thursday night game against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8. They won 37-10 to keep pace one game behind the AFC West's first-place team, the Denver Broncos (6-2).

QuarterbackJustin Herbert, now in his sixth NFL season, has passed for a league-high 2,140 yards with 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions this season. He threw for three touchdowns in each of the past two games.

Head coachJim Harbaughis in his second season with the Chargers after his time at the University of Michigan, where he led the program to a national title in 2023. Harbaugh was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014 prior to coaching at Michigan. His father,Jack Harbaugh, was the head coach at Western Kentucky University from 1989 to 2002.
