THE STORY: ARLINGTON, Texas -- Nick Rallis smiled last week when asked if the tweaks he made to his unit during the bye week would solve the his unit's issues.

"Whether or not I found the answers, we'll see," the Cardinals defensive coordinator said.

Monday night, at least, Rallis did.

The Cardinals (3-5) snapped a five-game losing streak at AT&T Stadium against the Cowboys (3-5-1), dominating a 27-17 win during a nationally televised game on ESPN. The Cowboys had been averaging nearly 31 points a game this season and was second in the league in points and yards coming into the game.

Not only did the Cardinals surrender just 17 points but they forced three turnovers.

Josh Sweat had two sacks and the Cardinals welcomed back cornerback Garrett Williams from IR and were helped by the debut of rookie defensive lineman Walter Nolen III. Calais Campbell had two sacks late.

But the offense was just as good, doing what it needed to against a Dallas defense that has been among the worst in the league. Quarterback Jacoby Brissett was excellent in his third straight start, completing 21 of 31 passes for 261 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Marvin Harrison Jr. had a career-best seven catches and tight end Trey McBride had a touchdown catch in his third straight game.

In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals had the answer as well, with Nolen getting a sack and fellow rookie Cody Simon forcing a huge fumble that the Cards recovered -- helping Arizona finish the game. A third rookie, Denzel Burke, had an interception and a huge fourth-down pass breakup when the Cowboys were in the red zone in the second half.
